Durham Queer Mutual Aid

Welcome to Durham Queer Mutual Aid. This group is organised by and for queer people in Durham City, UK, for the COVID-19 outbreak, especially LGBTQ+ people who are unable to access other forms of support. We are modelled on the Queercare protocol for mutual aid.

To change or cancel a request please email us at dispatch@durhamqueermutualaid.org.uk

Requests for support are anonymised by our dispatch team and forwarded to volunteers via secure Signal messenger. Individual support workers will be given your contact information only with your express permission.

At this point in time, Durham Queer Mutual Aid does not provide personal care and we are not DBS-checked.

Volunteer with us

As per the UK Government's latest guidance, our understanding is that under the new conditions volunteers can still go outside to provide care or to help a vulnerable person. Join us as a volunteer today.

We organise Durham Queer Mutual Aid on Slack. If you wish to contribute to our structure and approach, please join our Organising Group.

Data Protection

We take data protection very seriously. Your data will not be kept for longer than is strictly necessary. It will not be shared with anyone outside of Durham Queer Mutual Aid. Our dispatcher team will have access to data on assistance requests. Individual support workers will be given your contact information only with your express permission.
